Valérie Pelet retraces the route her brother-in-law took during his escape from Morocco to Austria. Due to “unfortunate circumstances,” he lost his right of residence throughout the entire Schengen Area. The result is a travel journal with a bittersweet aftertaste: Austrian sausages in the bleak borderlands, a massive Chinese textile factory in the heart of Italy, cruise ships painted with Looney Tunes characters in the port of Genoa. Pelet intertwines history and contemporary debacles; in seemingly casual images, the summer mood freezes.
