The Third Party

The Third Party, directed by Stephanie Cheng, is a narrative exposé on the paradox of infidelity. Inspired by a New Yorker article written by Jiayang Fan revealing the underpinnings of the mistress-dispelling industry, where housewives hire male dispellers to end their husbands’ affairs, this film turns the practice on its head: a woman reclaims agency by also applying the same deception and emotional manipulation to restore the illusion of marital stability.
